My journey
My programming story began in Lucknow, the city where I was born. My first programs were written in dBase III Plus and FoxPro. In 2000 I trained as an Oracle developer and started building business software for local companies, and Oracle has been at the centre of my work ever since.
Since then I’ve built a hospital ERP, retail systems for two of Asia’s largest retail groups, a portfolio-management platform for stock broking and, today, cloud applications in Oracle APEX. I live in the Delhi NCR region and work as an Oracle APEX lead consultant, where I still write code every day. In my free time I brainstorm new application ideas and keep an eye on where programming is heading next.
If you’d like to read more about my journey as a developer, Entrepreneur published a feature on it: The Path of a Developer.

How I work
- Blank page to productionI own the whole cycle: requirements, specifications, data model, screens and the PL/SQL behind them. Most of my systems were built from scratch, and many are still running today.
- Speed is a featureSlow screens cost people hours every week. In retail I tuned queries that took several minutes down to seconds.
- Finish properlyYears of on-site delivery taught me that the job isn’t done at go-live: testing with real users, documentation and a clean handover matter as much as the code.
- Proof, not promisesEvery example in my books and articles was run against a real database. And if Oracle APEX isn’t the right fit for your problem, I’ll tell you.
What I work with
My expertise covers a wide range of technologies:
On this blog I focus on concise, practical articles with code examples, so fellow developers and enthusiasts get clear solutions they can use straight away.
Throughout my career I’ve developed and implemented software for many industries:
- Healthcare and medical institutions
- Education
- Hospitality
- Courier and logistics
- Legal services
- Finance and share trading
- Retail
- Environmental services
My books
I’m the author of five books on Oracle development. Every example in them was run against a real database, and the output printed is the output it returned.
