- AI in business apps
Most businesses don't have a software problem. They have a business problem the software never solved.
These are things business owners and IT managers tell me in the first five minutes. If one of them sounds like your week, this hour is for you.
We paid for software, but the team still runs the business in Excel.Existing software
Every small change takes months and costs more than it should.Existing software
Our reports are slow, and nobody fully trusts the numbers.Data & reporting
Our systems don't talk to each other, so the same data is typed in twice.Data & reporting
We're stuck on an old system, and everyone is afraid to touch it.Moving to new software
Three vendors gave us three quotes and three different answers. Who is right?Moving to new software
We've never had proper software. Where do we even start?First-time software
Everyone talks about AI. Where would it actually help our business?Growth & AI
You don't need another sales demo. You need someone who understands both the business and the technology.
Whatever stage you're at, the hour is built around it
Most people who book are in one of three situations. Each one needs a different conversation, and each one ends with a decision you can act on.
Your current software isn't solving the problem
You already have a system, but the business has outgrown it, or it never fit the way you work.
Sounds like
- Workarounds, spreadsheets and manual steps around the system
- Slow screens, slow reports, unhappy users
- A vendor or team that can't deliver the changes you need
A clear call on whether to fix, extend or replace it, and the first three things to do.
You're planning a move to new software
You know the old system has to go. Now you need to choose what comes next and move without breaking the business.
Sounds like
- Comparing platforms, vendors and quotes
- Moving from Oracle Forms or a legacy app to Oracle APEX or the cloud
- Worried about data migration, downtime and cost overruns
A migration approach, the risks to watch, and the right questions to ask every vendor.
You're putting software in place for the first time
The business runs on paper, e-mail and spreadsheets, and it's time for a real system. Getting the start right saves years.
Sounds like
- Not sure what you need, or what it should cost
- Off-the-shelf product, or custom-built?
- Turning an idea into requirements a developer can build
Your requirements in plain words, a build-or-buy answer, and a phased plan with a realistic budget range.
From guessing to knowing what to do next
Expensive guesswork
- Buying software because the demo looked good
- Paying developers to build the wrong thing, twice
- Replacing a system that only needed a few fixes
- Months of meetings with no decision
- Hoping the vendor's estimate is honest
Clear, confident decisions
- You know the real cause of the problem, not just the symptoms
- You know whether to fix, extend, replace or build
- You have next steps in the right order, starting with the quick wins
- You can judge vendor proposals and estimates yourself
- You get independent advice: I'm not selling you any product
Business sense, with deep technical roots
Advice is only as good as the experience behind it. As an Oracle APEX consultant and architect, I've designed and built the systems I'll be advising you on, from the database up to the screens your team uses every day.

I've sat on both sides of the table
With the business people explaining what they need, and with the developers building it. A good consultation connects the two.
Building business systems since the early 2000s
I've designed and delivered full-lifecycle applications for healthcare, education, hospitality, logistics, legal services, finance and retail, first with Oracle Forms and Reports and Oracle E-Business Suite, and today with Oracle APEX and the cloud.
From business problem to working software
Much of my work happens before any code is written: understanding how a business really runs, writing the technical and functional specifications, and choosing an architecture a team can maintain for years. I also build products of my own, such as the Rounds hospital management system and VinAura PDF for Oracle APEX.
Author and educator
My books include Oracle APEX 26.1: The Complete Guide, Oracle Database 26ai SQL and PL/SQL, Oracle Forms 14c and AI Applications with Oracle Database 26ai and APEX. My blog, vinish.dev, is read by developers around the world.
One honest hour can save you months of building the wrong thing.
- 60 minutes, one to one
- $99 USD
- Google Meet, from anywhere
I'm not technical. Is this still for me?
Yes. Many of the people I talk to are business owners and managers. I explain everything in plain language and focus on what the decision means for your business: cost, risk, time and people.
What can we realistically cover in one hour?
One main problem or decision, covered properly. Because I read your booking beforehand, we skip the small talk and start on your situation from the first minute. If you have a bigger project, the hour shows you where to start.
What happens after I pay?
PayPal sends me your booking with the date, time and your question. Straight away, you receive a confirmation e-mail from hello@vinish.dev. Shortly after, and always before the call, you receive a Google Calendar invitation with your Google Meet link.
Do I need a Google account or an app?
No. Open the Google Meet link from your calendar invitation in your web browser. On a phone or tablet, the free Google Meet app works too.
Which time zone are the times in?
The calendar shows every slot in your own time zone, detected automatically. You can change it with the time zone menu in the calendar.
Can I cancel, reschedule or get a refund?
Payments are non-refundable. You can cancel at any time by e-mailing me at the address in your booking confirmation with your booking ID, but the fee is not returned. You can reschedule once, by e-mail at least 24 hours before the call, subject to availability. The full booking terms are below.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. Whatever you share about your business, systems or data stays between us. If your company needs an NDA, mention it in the booking and I'll sign one before the call.
Can I hire you as an Oracle APEX consultant after the call?
Yes. If we both think a longer engagement makes sense, for an Oracle APEX build, a Forms-to-APEX migration or ongoing support, we can talk about scope and pricing after the session. There's no pressure, and the consultation stands on its own.
