How to Play Carrom

🎮 Controls

You play from your baseline (the two parallel lines on your side of the board). First, drag the striker left or right along the baseline to line up your shot. Then pull back from the striker (drag away from where you want it to go, like a slingshot) and release to flick it forward. The further you pull, the more power — watch the power meter and the dotted aim guide.

• Desktop: click & drag the striker to position, then click on the board and pull back to aim. Release to shoot.
• Mobile: touch & drag the striker to move it, then pull back with your finger and lift to flick.
• Striker must stay on the baseline — between the two endpoint circles.

🎯 Goal

Each player owns a colour — White or Black. Be the first to pocket all 9 of your coins (with the Queen properly covered) to win the board. The red Queen is the prize piece worth a bonus 3 points.

📜 Standard Rules

• Pocket your own coin → you score it and shoot again (turn continues).
• Pocket only an opponent coin → it counts for them and your turn ends — no point for you.
• Pocket the striker (foul) → return one of your already-pocketed coins to the board as penalty, any coins you potted this shot also return, and your turn ends.
• Coin flies off the board → returned to the centre and counts as a foul.
• Last coin foul: if you foul while pocketing your final coin, your last coin returns and you must pocket it again.
• Pocket nothing legally and your turn passes to the other player.

👑 Queen Rules

• The Queen can be pocketed at any time, even on your very first shot.
• After pocketing the Queen you must cover it by pocketing one of your own coins in the same shot or on the very next shot.
• Cover successful → Queen is secured, +3 bonus points.
• Cover failed → Queen is returned to the centre and is back in play.
• You cannot clear the board while the Queen is still in play. If you pocket your final coin leaving the Queen uncovered, you lose the match.

🧠 Strategy Tips

• Aim for the coin so it travels toward the nearest corner pocket — picture the cut angle.
• Use rebounds off the cushions to reach coins tucked behind others.
• Only go for the Queen when you have an easy own-coin nearby to cover it.
• Soft, controlled shots beat wild power — keep the striker on the board.
